This is the main jail facility for Yolo County and is the responsibility of the Sheriff’s Department Detention Division Monroe Detention Center is a medium/maximum security facility rated to provide housing for inmates of all security classifications. Most people arrested in Yolo County will be brought to this detention center for booking and will be held until bail is posted or until their arraignment.
Inmates are permitted two, 30-minute visits each week. Visitors must be at least 18 years old and have a valid photo ID. Visitors under the age of 18 must be a member of the inmates immediate family and be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The Walter J. Leinberger Memorial Center is also the responsibility of the Sheriff’s Department Detention Division. It is a working facility designed to house inmates who have been sentenced. These inmates may work at various city, county and state agencies in order to reduce their jail time.
This detention center has the resources and can house any overflow of inmates from the Monroe Center. Potential inmates are screened carefully and must meet the strict policy and procedure criteria when they are transferred to the Leinberger Detention Center. Public safety is the priority when considering inmates for transfer.
Visitation at this facility is on Wednesday night from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm; Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm, and 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Visitation is by pre-scheduled appointment only, and once scheduled it cannot be changed.

The Yolo County Sheriff’s Department offers programs to inmates that will help them have a successful re-entry into society upon release. One of the goals of the Detention Division is to provide inmates with as much education and resources to help reduce the recidivism rate. Funds for inmate programs are provided through the Inmate Welfare Fund and other grants.
