Riverbank Police Department
Riverbank Police Department
6727 Third St.
Riverbank, CA 95367
Law enforcement services for the City of Riverbank are provided by the Riverbank Police Department. Services are under contract with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department. Services provided include felony assault investigations, crimes against children, fraud, narcotics, gang and street crimes, and specialized crime prevention. The Department also performs patrols, general investigations, and traffic enforcement.
If your loved one has been arrested by the Riverbank Police Department, they will be taken to the Stanislaus County Jail in Modesto for booking. Women are generally taken to the Public Safety Center for the booking process.
During booking, they will be fingerprinted, have photographs taken, and a background check and warrant search will be conducted. This process could take several hours, depending on how busy the staff of the jail is at the time your loved one is brought into the jail. Once booking is complete, a bail amount will be set.
The Bail Process
In California, bail is set on a county-by-county basis. Stanislaus County judges conduct an annual review of the bail schedule and will adjust the amounts as needed. This bail schedule will be used by law enforcement throughout the county to set bail amounts for defendants. The judge always considers public safety when setting bail. If the defendant could cause more harm to the public, the bail amount will be set higher. If the defendant is a repeat offender, their bail amount will be set higher.
Any additional damage at the time of the crime will be taken into consideration. For example, if the defendant was arrested for a DUI but also caused an accident, injury, or death, the amount of bail will be greater than that of a DUI alone.
The judge will also take into consideration if the defendant poses a flight risk, i.e. possibly no family ties within the community, or unemployed, etc.
In some instances, the judge may allow the defendant to be released on their own recognizance (OR) and no bail will be needed for their release. The bail amount could also be reduced by the judge.
There is also the possibility that the judge will order the defendant to be remanded, meaning that there will be no bail and the defendant will spend the duration of the court proceedings in jail.
Once a bail amount has been set for your loved one, you may pay the entire bail amount to the court or jail. The defendant will be required to appear for all court cases or the bail could be revoked and they would go to jail. After the court case has concluded, the bail money will be returned to you if you pay the full amount to the court. The way many cases go, though, it could be months or even years before you received this money back. This is why most people turn to a bondsman and pay the 10% non-refundable fee.
Quick Bail Bond Services
Rather than having to pay what is often a large sum of money of the full bail amount, you can pay a percentage (10%) of the bail amount to a bail bondsman. For example, if bail is set at $15,000, you will pay a bail bondsman $1,500. The bondsman will then go to the jail or courthouse and pay the bail amount on the defendant’s behalf. This fee paid to the bondsman is called the premium. It is important to know that it is not returned to you, regardless of the outcome of the case.
