Stanislaus County Jail
The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department controls the Adult Detention Facilities in the county. The adult Detention Division can be responsible for over 1,300 pre-trial, sentences, and out-of-custody inmates at any given time. The staff within this division is responsible for meeting the physical needs of the inmates, as well as providing church services, counseling, library facilities, vocational and skills workshops, educational and recreational programs.
In addition to providing safe, secure housing for Stanislaus County Jail inmates, the SCSD is open to Alternative Sentencing Programs, such as Work Furloughs and the Alternative Work Program (AWP), which allows inmates sentenced to less than 365 days to work in the community for the duration of their sentence in lieu of going to jail. This helps to reduce overcrowding that many California jails experience.
