The Shasta County Jail is a high-security jail used to detain inmates who are awaiting arraignment, going through trial, and have been sentenced. The jail is rated to house up to 381 inmates: 317 male and 64 female.

Visitation

Anyone wishing to visit an inmate needs to contact the reception officer in order to find out the visitation schedule. Inmates are allowed to have two 30-minute visits each week. Visiting hours are between 8:30 am- 11:30 am and 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm daily. On weekends, there are additional visiting times from 1:00 pm- 4:00 pm.

Visitors must be over 18 and have a valid photo ID. No personal belongings may be taken into the jail for visitation. All visitors are subject to search and will have to pass through a metal detector before entering the visiting area.

Arrest and Booking

Anyone arrested in Shasta County will be transported to this facility for booking. The booking process includes fingerprinting, photographs (“mug shots”), a background check and nationwide warrant search. The arrestee will be searched for drugs and contraband, and any personal items will be collected and held until their release.

They will have access to a phone during booking so that they can contact a friend or family member. When their bail amount has been set and they have been completely booked into the system, we can post bail for them 24-hours a day.

Bail Bond Cost

In California, bail amounts are among the highest in the nation. Most people cannot afford to pay such a large, unexpected cost. To make it easier for people to get their loved ones out of jail, bail bondsmen will post the bail for them in exchange for a fee. The cost of a bail bond is determined by the Department of Insurance and is set at 10%.

For example, if a defendant’s bail is $20,000 then the cost of a bail bond is $2,000. Once this fee is paid, the bondsman will go to the jail and post the bond so that the defendant can be released. The bail bond fee is non-refundable, regardless of the outcome of the case.

We offer easy payment options for our clients. All major credit cards are accepted and payment plans can be arranged for those who qualify. In many cases, no collateral is required to secure a bond with us.
