The Southwest Detention Center jail is located in the City of Murrieta and houses both male and female pre-trial inmates. It is operated by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, which serves the unincorporated areas of Riverside County, and several incorporated contract cities in the surrounding areas.

If you want to visit an inmate at Southwest Detention Center, it’s recommended you call the jail first to confirm both the inmate’s housing location and the visiting schedule. Appointments are scheduled daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm by calling (951) 696-3470. Please note that visitation at the Southwest Detention Center is allowed only by appointment. You must call one day prior in order to schedule a visitation the next day.

Booking Process

It’s important to know that it can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours to book (process, photograph and fingerprint) an inmate. Bail cannot be posted until they have been completely updated and entered into the system. However, we can often get the bail bond process started right away. We always recommend posting bail for an arrestee as soon as possible for a much faster release time. Most bail bonds can be posted at any one of the Riverside County jails 24 hours a day.
