What is a Bail Bond?

Bail bonds are also known as Surety bonds. They are contracts between a licensed bail agent and the signer (indemnitor) or cosigners. Bail Bonds guarantee a defendant will appear for their calendared court appearances. Failure to appear, sometimes also called a “skip,” will result in the signers of the bail bond (the indemnitor) having to pay the full amount of the bond to the court.
