Bail Bond Costs
In California, the cost of a bail bond, called the bail bond premium, is equal to 10% of the total set bail amount. For example, if bail is set at $10,000, then you will pay a bondsman $1,000. The bail bond premium is set by the California Department of insurance and is not negotiable. This fee is also not returnable. No matter the outcome of the defendant’s case, the bondsman is still entitled to the fee paid for the service they provide.
