Headquartered in the Monterey County Courthouse, the officers of the Coastal Patrol Station provide coverage for over 750 square miles, including about 100 miles of coastline, extending from the marina to the southern edge of Monterey County. They also provide supplemental law enforcement for special events at Pebble Beach and Carmel Valley. There are community field offices located in the Crossroads Shopping Center and the Carmel Valley Village.
The Coastal Patrol’s Search and Rescue Team covers all of Monterey County and even responds to call from neighboring counties. It is comprised of a team of 13 deputies and about 30 volunteers. There is a dive unit as well as a mounted patrol. They respond to calls to the Los Padres National Forest, the Big Sur area and the Pacific Ocean and other bodies of water.
