Bail Bonds in Ukiah

In Mendocino County, the jail is operated by the Mendocino CountySheriff’s Department. The detention facility is rated to house up to 364 inmates.

When someone is arrested in Mendocino County, they will be transported to the Mendocino County Jail for booking. This will include fingerprinting, photographs, background checks and warrant search.

The arrestee will be searched for any contraband or drugs and a medical exam may be conducted, if necessary. Their property will be logged and held until their release from the jail. A bail amount will be set according to the Mendocino County bail schedule. Once the arrestee is completely booked into the system, they can have someone post bail for them. This can be done by either paying the bail amount in full with cash or cashier’s check, or with the help of a licensed bail bondsman.

If they are not bailed out of jail, the defendant will remain in jail for the duration of their case. During the arraignment, the judge may decide to either reduce the bail amount or allow the defendant to be released on their own recognizance. There are also instances where the judge will deny bail and remand the defendant into custody.

Inmate Programs

The Corrections Facility provides several educational, cognitive and recovery based programs for inmates. These include Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, GED preparation and testing, Adult Education, Parenting and Life Skills, Substance Abuse and Recovery Education, Anger Management, Horticulture and several religious services. Inmate programs follow the principles outlined in the book “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People,” and are integrated into correctional programs by Gordon Graham and Company. Inmate Marriages

Marriage ceremonies can be performed between an inmate and the person they wish to marry. If someone wants to marry an inmate while they are incarcerated, they must find and pay for an ordained minister or judge willing to marry them. Any costs, including the marriage license fee, must be paid for by the individual wishing to get married.

Both individuals must provide identification, be at least 18 years old, and cannot have been divorced within the last 90 days.  The ceremony will be performed inside the jail and no other individuals will be allowed in for the ceremony. The date and time will be set by the jail. No property will be exchanged and kept by the inmate after the ceremony. The service will be conducted in the visitor area of the jail, with the glass separating the couple. No physical contact will be allowed between the couple.

Inmate Contact

Inmates are allowed to send and receive mail during their incarceration. If you wish to send an inmate mail, it can be sent directly to the jail with the inmate’s name and housing location. Mail cannot contain Polaroid pictures, larger than normal photographs, pornographic materials, envelopes, stamps or stickers. Any books, newspapers and magazines must be sent directly from the publisher or retailer.

Inmates will have access to phones from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm. Phone calls are made collect, unless they are calling designated organizations and any local calls made during booking are free. Jail staff will not take messages for inmates unless it is an emergency.
