Van Nuys Inmate Information
The Van Nuys Station is the largest police station of the Valley Bureau of the Los Angeles Police Department and services the communities of Blythe Street, Lake Balboa, Sepulveda, Sherman Oaks, Valley Glen, Van Nuys, Ventura Business District, and West Van Nuys. I am able to provide bail bond service to all of these areas as well as throughout the state of California.
If you are uncertain as to the location of the arrestee, I can assist you. Please call me toll-free at 877-Bail Bond or locally at 818-332-1040.
Van Nuys is the busiest jails in San Fernando Valley. Not only does it hold arrestees from the immediate local area, the Van Nuys jail is utilized by other LAPD stations which do not have jails, like the West Valley Station. Furthermore, with the Van Nuys Courthouse on premises, defendants are brought from other jails like the Malibu-Lost Hills Station for hearings.
While the Van Nuys jail is relatively efficient for its large size and volume of arrests, time for processing an arrestee into the Van Nuys jail can be significantly long, especially during weekends, late nights and holidays. I have had clients tell me that the staff at the jail has indicated that arrestees will be available to be bailed out after an hour. I have never seen this to be the case at the Van Nuys jail. Three or four hours may be typical. However, I have also seen it take as much as 12 hours for defendants to be booked in so that bail can be posted.
Another issue to be aware of at the Van Nuys Jail is illegal activity on the part of bondsmen, or supposed bail agents. The presence of people standing out in front of the jail (or in the jail lobby) offering bail bonds service is prohibited by law and is illegal. Additionally, a bail bond company who “cold calls” someone to offer bail service for a loved one who has been arrested is also illegal.
I have had clients tell me and other Van Nuys bail bonds agents that they have received calls from a bondsman offering to bail people out of the Van Nuys jail, especially when the bail bond amount is over $30,000. Bail bond companies in California must be contacted by the client; this would be the arrestee or someone wanting to bail them out. We are not legally allowed to offer services directly through a phone call or in person.
