The community covered by the LAPD Hollenbeck Police Station is located east of downtown Los Angeles, has a population of roughly 200,000 people and is 15.2 square miles in size. This brand new station, which has been operating only since July 2009, is 54,000 square feet, hi-tech, state-of-the art facility that is home to more than 282 patrol officers, detectives and support staff. It is 10 times the size of the former station, offering both police and public a large, outdoor community gathering space and plenty of parking.
Booking time at the station is also pretty streamlined for LA and can take anywhere from 10 minutes up to 6 hours, depending on the nature of the crime and the type of investigation it warrants. The Hollenbeck station uses other Los Angeles Police Department Jails to hold arrestees: the Metro Center, Van Nuys and 77th Street jail.
