How Is Bail Set?

In California, bail is set on a county-by-county basis. The judges for each Inyo County will perform an annual review to decide on the bail amounts for different crimes. When setting the bail schedule, a judge will take into consideration:

  • Public safety is the first priority
  • Severity of the crime; the more serious it is, the higher the bail
  • Repeat offenders: if they are a habitual law-breaker, bail will be more
  • Extenuating circumstances: if the crime includes other, serious, factors, bail will be higher. For example, a DUI has one bail amount. Add an accident, property damage, injury, or death, and that amount increases

We know that the bail process is overwhelming for anyone who doesn’t deal with it on a daily basis the way we do. That’s why Tonya Page Bail Bonds makes it so much easier.
