The El Centro Police Department is currently of 47 sworn officers. This includes the Chief of Police, a Captain, 3 Lieutenants, 6 Sergeants and 36 Police Officers. The El Centro Police Department currently staffs a SWAT team and a Special Enforcement Unit (for Gangs). Throughout the years, the department has progressed with the growth of the City, to meet the needs of the citizens of El Centro. They have increased from a small town department to the modern Police Department it is today. They also have a sub-station located at Posada del Sol on North Imperial Ave. which is primarily used as the Traffic Division. They have also an active Police Athletic League at 1100 North 4th Street.

Male arrestees will be transported to the Herbert Hughes Correctional Center or the Regional Adult Detention Facility. Female arrestees will be transported to the Regional Adult Detention Facility.
