The Calexico Police Department has a mission to provide service with honor and respect, to protect life, to enforce laws, and to perform their duties in partnership with the community which increase the quality of life for all of Calexico.

Because there is no jail or temporary holding facility at the Calexico Police Department, when someone is arrested in Calexico, the arrestee will taken to the Imperial County Sheriff’s Station (El Centro Jail) located on Applestill Road in El Centro.

Once there, they will be processed and booked into the jail computer system. This generally consists of photographs, fingerprints, and background checks, such as Live Scan. We realize its difficult to be patient during these times, but it’s important to understand that booking a defendant can often several hours to complete. A bail bond cannot be posted until the booking process is complete and the defendant is clear.

When the defendant is clear, bail may be posted 24 hours a day. It can take from 2 to 6 hours for release from jail once bail has been posted. If the defendant is not bailed out, they must remain in custody and await their arraignment.

Posting Bail

When you contact us, we will generally ask few questions regarding the defendant’s individual situation. We are required to do this in order to assess the risk involved in taking on the bail bond. We generally take a look at important factors such as the length of time the person has lived in California, their employment status, credit rating, the crime they were charged for, etc. It is the culmination of these factors, which help us to determine the risk.

When we do move forward, it is very likely we will not require any collateral and can do what is called a “signature bond.” When the bail bond paperwork is finalized, a licensed bail bondsman will go to the jail to “post the bond.” The defendant will usually be released within 2 to 4 hours.

Financing Bail Bonds

Bail bonds typically require payment  in advance, prior to the detainee’s release from jail.  The fee for a bail bond is generally 10% of the total bail amount. This fee is mandated by The California State Department of Insurance.

We realize that in some cases this may represent a financial burden. If you should require financing, it’s great to know that our company offers several bail bond payment options.

We will let you know if you qualify for financing within a few short minutes. When you qualify, we can work out payments with no additional finance charges or fees. Many of our clients have found that using a credit card is the fastest way to pay for a bail bond. We accept VISA, Master Card, American Express or Discover. You may also pay by cash.
