Sheriff’s Department Information
The Humboldt County Sheriff is responsible for the protection of the lives and property of residents and visitors to the area. With the county spanning more than 4,052 square miles, Sheriff’s Deputies need to operate out of four separate stations in order to provide better law enforcement coverage and to maintain higher visibility in the communities.

The Garberville Station serves Garberville, Redway, Shelter Cove, Miranda, Philllipsville, Weott, Myers Flatt and Alderpoint. It is situated on the southern end of the county, an area known for outdoor recreational activities, such as fishing, hiking and boating. Five deputies and one sergeant are assigned to the station which is open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

This station is on the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation, located 55 miles east of Eureka. This reservation is the largest in California. A sergeant, a correctional officer, a senior legal office assistant and five deputies are assigned to this station. They provide law enforcement for the communities of Willow Creek, Hoopa, Orleans and Redwood Valley as well as the unincorporated areas surrounding these communities in northeastern Humboldt County.
Operations Bureau
The Sheriff’s Department Operations Bureau consists of seven units, all under the command of a Sheriff’s Captain. Patrol is the most visible of the units, responding to emergency calls for service, investigating crimes, and preventing crime through neighborhood patrols.
