Fresno County Sheriff’s Department

One of the nation’s top agricultural counties, Fresno County draws thousands of visitors each year. It is the sixth-largest county in California, covering over 6,011 square miles. It is also one of the fastest growing counties in the state. 

Sheriff Stations & Areas

With so much area to cover, the Fresno Sheriff’s Department is divided among four separate geographical areas. This helps them better interact with the community. Each area has it’s own station and the Mountain Area has two stations.

Area 1- West

Covering over 2400 square miles in western Fresno County, the Area 1 station is located in the City of San Joaquin. The station is staffed by one lieutenant, eight sergeants, one office assistant, four community service officers and 34 deputy sheriffs. The men and women of the department provide the area with 24-hour patrol and detective services, crime prevention, youth services with deputies assigned to schools, Operation Safe Streets, and a variety of community liaison functions.The Area 1 Commander is Lieutenant Gregg Andreotti.

Area 1 provides its services to the incorporated cities of Coalinga, Huron, San Joaquin, Kerman, Mendota, and Firebaugh. It also services a number of unincorporated communities like Tranquility, Biola, Bryant, Oxalis, Los Deltas, Five Points, Alkali Flats, Three Rocks, Cantua Creek and Dos Palos.

Area 2 covers the unincorporated areas of metropolitan Fresno County, including communities within the boundaries of American Avenue to the Madera County line and Chateau Fresno to McCall Avenue, Calwa, Malaga, Mayfair, Sunnyside, Fig Garden and Tarpey.

This area is focused on Patrol Training and is home to the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Training Unit. Fifteen patrol training officers are assigned to the area. All entry-level field deputies are assigned here during their training. There are also five detectives assigned to the area who handle armed robbery and property crime investigations.

Area 3, known as the Nora Sector, is under the command of Lieutenant Robert Kandarian. The officers of Area 3 provide law enforcement services to about 150,000 residents in southern Fresno County. This includes the incorporated cities of Orange Cove, Reedley, Sanger, Parlier, Selma, Fowler, and Kingsburg. There are also a number of unincorporated towns covered by Area 3: Centerville, Minkler, Navelencia, Wahtoke, Del Rey, Raisin City, Easton, Caruthers, Laton, Riverdale and Lanare. There are 28 schools in the area with a student population of around 10,000.

The officers of Area 3 work to provide the best in public safety and law enforcement to its residents. They strive to build strong community partnerships, especially on school related programs.

Area 4 covers the eastern mountain region of Fresno County, approximately 2,734 square miles. There are several rural communities with small populations, many lakes, rivers and recreation areas. This is a popular vacation spot during the summer and winter.

There are 27 Deputy Sheriff’s, two detectives, two office assistants, one community service officer, four sergeants and one lieutenant servicing the area.
