Individuals arrested in El Dorado County will be taken to the El Dorado County Jail to one of the two detention centers in the county, depending on the geographical area they are in. Both facilities are run by the El Dorado Sheriff’s Department Type II facilities that house men and women, both sentenced and pre-sentenced defendants.

The booking process at either facility will include fingerprinting, photographs, background checks and warrant checks. The booking process can take several hours to complete. A bail amount will be set according to the El Dorado County bail schedule. The defendant will be able to post bail.

Bail Bond Process

Once a bail bond has been approved, there will be two forms that need to be completed and signed. We can complete all of the necessary paperwork over the phone, by fax or email, or in person. An agent will meet with you at a location most convenient for you.

When you speak with a bondsman, they will explain your responsibilities when co-signing a bail bond. Before you agree to bail someone out of jail, you should determine if there is any chance that they will refuse to return for their court appearances once released from jail.

By signing a bail bond contract, you will be guaranteeing the bondsman and the court that the defendant will appear for court hearings. If they fail to do so, you will be financially liable for paying the entire bail amount, as well as any additional court costs and fees incurred.

Bail Bond Cost and Payment Options

In California, the cost of a bail bond is 10% of the bail amount. For instance, if a defendant’s bail is set at $20,000, the bail bond fee is $2,000. For some, paying this amount can be difficult. We understand this and that is why we accept payments with all major credit cards. In many cases, we can work out a payment plan for clients in need.

This is a difficult situation to find yourself in. We will work to make sure that the whole process goes as smoothly as possible.
