Yolo County SheriffThe Yolo County Sheriff's Department has been serving the community since 1850. Today, more than 300 full and part time employees and volunteers are dedicated to serving the nearly 200,000 residents of Yolo County.

The Yolo County Sheriff's Department is divided into three divisions: Administrative and Support, Detention Services, and Field Operations. The Administrative Division is the central coordinating point for the Sheriff-Coroner, Undersheriff, and management staff. The Field Operations Division consists of the uniformed patrol force. They maintain the Civil Section, working in conjunction with the courts and animal services. The Detention Division is responsible for maintaining the county jail also known as Monroe Detention Center.
Capay Augmented Patrol
This special program provides the residents of the Capay Valley and Cache Creek Casino area with a specialized unit of trained and designated deputies that provide patrol services 24-7. The CAP program is fully supported by the Rumsey Indian Rancheria Tribal Leaders through donated funds.
The Investigations section is made up of detectives and crime scene investigators. The detectives investigate felony crimes, such as homicides, rapes, child/ elder abuse, burglaries, assaults, arson, and identity thefts. Detectives are also assigned to the Yolo Narcotics Enforcement Team and Yolo County Gang Task Force, working with other jurisdictions to reduce crime. CSIs conduct investigations through photography, evidence collection, and fingerprint/ DNA processing. They also manage the evidence and property system.
The Marine Patrol Search and Rescue Team operate year round under the authority of the Yolo County Sheriff's Department. Their main priority is to ensure and promote the safety of public boating. They also provide countywide search and rescue services for lost, stranded and injured victims. They operate on the Sacramento River, Cache Canyon, Putah Creek and the mountains, slough and flat lands of the county.
The Deputies of the patrol unit provide law enforcement services to the public. Their goal is to provide "service without limitations." The patrol territory is divided into four geographic zones with designated units assigned to each area. Deputies respond to calls for service, maintain a presence and support the public, and represent the Sheriff's Department at community events and meetings.
Six Yolo County Sheriff Deputies are selected to train with SWAT to reduce the risk of injury or loss of life during critical incidents.
