A 55-year-old man who is believed to be tied to a shooting in Santa Paula has been arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail.
A spokesperson for the Santa Paula Police Department indicated the man, who is from South Carolina, has been charged with felony assault with a firearm.
The incident is still under investigation, police said, but the defendant is currently being held on $60,000 bail bonds. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the foot and was transported to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries.
It’s not immediately clear if the defendant has ties to Ventura County or if he’s been able to hire a Ventura County bondsman to help secure his release. If he is able to hire a bondsman, his fee will be 10%, or in this case, $6,000, and he will need to return to court as many times as needed until his case is over.
