Representatives from the Berkeley Police Department have confirmed they detained a man who was spotted with a gun.
According to news reports, the incident began when a community member contacted the cops to let them know they spotted a restaurant patron who had a gun on his person. The man was described as being in his 20s, with tattoos on his hand and neck.
The community informant also indicated the gun was located in the man’s back pocket.
When police arrived on scene, they located the suspect and detained him without incident. They also recovered a loaded, semi-automatic handgun.
The man was arrested and booked at the Berkeley Police Department Jail; he was charged with carrying a concealed firearm and carrying a loaded firearm in public.
His bail bonds information was not immediately known, and it’s not clear if the suspect had any outstanding warrants.
