The City of Napa is well known for its exquisite wines and food. One of the oldest cities in California, Napa was the starting point for the 1849 gold rush and the birthplace of famous leather.

The Department has been in existence since in 1875 and is one of the oldest police departments in California. At that time, there were only 10 miles of streets within Napa's city limits. Today, the city streets span 165 miles.

The Napa Police Department is divided into six bureaus: Administration, Patrol, Special Operations, Napa Special Investigations, Records and Dispatch.

The Patrol Bureau is responsible for deploying uniformed officers in the city to help prevent and investigate crimes, respond to calls for service, prevent vehicle collisions, generate reports on crimes and collisions, and provide information, referrals and assistance to residents and visitors.

If someone is arrested in Napa, they will be taken to the Napa County Jail for booking. This will consist of fingerprinting, photographs, background check and warrant search. The Napa County Jail is one of only a few jails in the state that are run privately, by the Napa County Department of Corrections.

Bail Responsibilities

When you enter into a bail agreement with a bondsman, you become what is known as an "indemnitor." You are agreeing to be the person responsible for the bail contract and the defendant.

By signing an agreement with a bail bondsman, you agree to pay the bail bond premium in full. This is the fee that is set by the state of California. It is equal to 10% of the total bail amount. This fee is non-refundable. Even if the defendant is found not guilty or charges are not filed, this fee must be paid.

It is your responsibility to make sure that, once released, the defendant shows up at any court appearances. If the defendant fails to appear, you are responsible for any fees and administrative costs incurred by the bondsman, court costs and you will be responsible for paying the entire bail amount set by the Napa County judge.

You must make sure that the defendant's information, such as address and employer, remain current. If the defendant leaves town or "goes on the run," it is your responsibility to notify the courts and bondsman of their whereabouts, if they are known to you.

Let us help you and your loved one get through this trying time with as little difficulty as possible.  We know how distressing it can be when a loved one is sitting in jail.

When you contact our bondsman for Napa bail bonds,  we'll be able to get to work right away.  Bonds can be posted to the Napa County Jail 24-hours a day.
