Bail may also be set by the judge during arraignment. The judge will consider any prior offenses and fight risk when determining a defendant's bail. The judge may decide to release the defendant on his own recognizance (OR) or remand them to custody without setting bail.
The defendant will remain in custody at the jail until they are released. Any property that the defendant has on them at the time of arrest will be collected and stored until they are released.
Inmates can also release their property to a friend or family member at any time by signing a property release form. Anyone collecting an inmate's property must have a valid photo ID card.Inmates may not receive any items except for money in the form of cash, cashiers checks, and money orders brought to the jail lobby. Inmates can purchase items from the jail commissary with any funds they have available.
Inmates may send and receive mail. Inmate mail should be addressed to PO Box 697, Bridgeport, CA 93517 and return address should appear on the front of the envelope.All incoming mail will be inspected for contraband. You may not send more than 3 pictures at a time and they cannot depict criminal/ gang activity or be sexual in nature. Stationary, blank cards, stamps and writing materials may not be sent. Food, hygiene products and cash are also not allowed to be mailed.
Inmates may receive money orders made out to them. Books and magazines are allowed to be sent, but must come directly from the publisher.
Visiting an InmateVisitors must be over 18 or accompanied by a parent. A valid photo ID is required to visit an inmate. Visitors are subject to search, both their property and person. Mono County Jail does not allow contact visits. It is a felony offense to bring a weapon, alcohol, narcotics or drug paraphernalia into the facility.
Visiting hours are Sunday, Monday and Wednesday from 1:00 pm- 5:00 pm and Friday from 7:00 pm- 9:30 pm.
