The Sheriff's Department is divided into three separate divisions: the Valley Division, Mountain Division, and Administrative Division.With the increase in the number of rural criminal activity, the Madera County Sheriff created one of the eight Agricultural crime task forces in the Central Valley. The Ag Crimes Unit has two sheriff's detectives who are responsible for investigating all crimes that are agriculture-based.
The Madera County Dive Team is made up of seven sworn officers and two search and rescue volunteers. The team provides a variety of services, including rescue and recovery and evidence searches during criminal investigations. They respond to calls in lakes, canals, and swift water rescues.The Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team plays an important role in emergency calls in Madera County as well as assisting in other counties across the state and country.
