The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Palmdale Station was rebuilt and expanded to three times its former size in 2006. The 48,000-square-foot station’s renovations also include an on-site jail.
Although it is a Sheriff’s station, which normally falls under the jurisdiction of the county, it provides service that has been contracted by the City of Palmdale. This includes protecting 700 square miles of unincorporated County area from the Wrightwood ski area to Lake Hughes.
The Station additionally serves Littlerock Pear Blossom, Llano, Acton, Agua Dolce, Elizabeth Lake, Lake Hughes, Leona and Green Valleys.
Palmdale City is one of the fastest growing cities in California, as well as a leader when it comes to providing affordable homes to an increasingly ethnically diverse community.
Booking time at the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station and jail usually takes about one hour, but bail must be posted within 24 hours or arrestees will be transferred to larger facilities like Twin Towers. If that happens, it can take over 24 hours to get them bailed out!
