Bail Bond ProcessWe can approve a bond quickly after gathering some basic information about the defendant. We’ll ask: their full legal name, date of birth, address, employment information, bail amount and list of charges. If you don't know all of this information, don't panic -- we can still help.
Your responsibilities as a cosigner or the bail bond will be explained.
You will need to keep the bondsman informed of any changes in the
defendant’s employment or living situation. It’s important to make sure
that they make it to all scheduled court hearings.
The bail bond "premium" is the cost of the bond and is equal to 10% of the total bail amount. So, if the bail is $10,000 then you will pay $1,000 to the bondsman as their fee. We accept all major credit cards for faster processing. We will even make a financing plan for those who qualify.
Our simple paperwork for the bail bond can be completed online by fax or email, or in person.
We can post bail at the Humboldt County Jail 24-hours a day. Once we have posted the bail, it could be a few more hours before they will be released. This is because safety is the top priority for jail staff.

Twenty-four field officers and six sergeants cover the 18 square-mile city, protecting the community and enhancing the quality of life for citizens. One officer from the department is assigned to foot/bike patrol duties in the Old Town district close to Humboldt Bay. Another officer is assigned as the School Resource Officer. Every patrol vehicle is equipped with Mobile Data Computers.
The Department also has three Canine Teams, each going through extensive training and annual certification. The Unit helps to supplement operations in locating and apprehending suspects, as well as narcotics and field searches and serving warrants.
Arrest & BookingWhen a person is arrested in Eureka, they will be taken to the Humboldt County Jail for booking. They will be fingerprinted and photographed (mug shots), and a background search and a warrant check will be conducted. This process could take a few hours to complete, depending on how busy jail staffers are when the arrestee is brought in.
A bail amount will be set and once booking is complete, the defendant may be bailed out of jail. Bail determination is based on several factors, public safety being at the top of that list. Anyone who has committed a severe or violent crime or is a violent offender or considered a flight risk will be given a higher bail amount.
