Butte County Jail Visitation Rules and InformationIf you are going to visit the Butte County Jail or an inmate being detained, there are a few rules to follow.
- You must be 18 years of age or accompanied by a legal guardian or parent.
- You must have a state issued operator’s license, state ID card, military ID card, or a passport to prove your identity.
- You must arrive at least 20 to 30 minutes prior to visitation time for registration.
- You will only have 45 minutes to visit on Saturday and Sunday and are allowed as many visitors of your choice. There will only be one adult allowed at a time to visit the inmate and therefore your responsibility to divide the time amongst your visitors.
Items you can bring to the lobby of the jail between the hours of 8:00 AM - 12:00 AM and 12:30 PM - 4:00 PM:
- Medication authorized and approved by the Medical Unit.
- Cashier’s checks or money orders for depositing into the inmates trust account.
- Cash, personal checks and personnel checks are not accepted.
You are not allowed to have any audio or video recording devices and are prohibited on the Butte County Sheriff’s Office premises. These things can and will be confiscated.
You cannot have any beverages or food within the Visiting Center of the Butte County Sheriff’s Office premises. You cannot have any alcoholic beverages on the Butte County Sheriff’s Office premises.
All deadly weapons, explosives or firearms are prohibited on the Butte County Sheriff’s Office premises. You are prohibited from visiting if you are a person on active parole or just released from jail within the last 30 days.
You are not allowed to wear any sort of suggestive or scantily clothing and you must wear shoes and a shirt. All persons visiting the Butte County Sheriff’s Office premises are subject to their person and belongings being searched. Only visitors who have signed up to visit the Butte County Sheriff’s Office premises will be allowed to communicate with inmates.
