The Corrections Division of the Sheriff’s Department administers the San Benito County Jail. The  28,000 square foot facility is rated to hold up to 124 inmates at one time. Inmate workers are assigned to various county agencies to assist with work projects. The Corrections Division consists of 32 correctional deputies, sergeants and administrative and maintenance staff.

The jail houses two maximum-security modules that house a maximum of 27 inmates each and two medium security modules that houses a maximum of  35 inmates each.  All female inmates are housed in two separate housing units- 8 in maximum security, and 10 in medium security. The facility averages an inmate population of approximately 100 inmates at once.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department Jail Division is responsible for the administration and operation of the county jail.  It is up to the jail staff  to maintain a safe and secure environment for inmates.

On a contract basis the jail also houses Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainees to help generate more revenue for the county.

The facility was built in 1962 and renovated in the 1990s, the Yuba County Jail has the capacity to house 428 inmates. The daily population on average is 374, with approximately 160 of them being ICE detainees.

The jail houses sentenced inmates as well as those awaiting trial or sentencing.  A variety of programs are offered to the inmates, such as a medical clinic, a full kitchen, and recreational activities. They also have the opportunity to exercise, shop in the commissary, visitation, and use of the law library, inmate education, work programs and furloughs.

Rehabilitative training for inmates is strongly emphasized.  They are also given vocational training in  janitorial services, construction, and life skills. Drug and alcohol counseling is also offered as well as General Education courses, anger management and stress management.

El Dorado County Jail – South Lake Tahoe

Anyone arrested in the vicinity of South Lake Tahoe will be taken to the El Dorado County Jail- South Lake Tahoe facility for the booking process. This jail has the capacity to house 158 inmates.  Both male and female inmates, sentenced and pre-sentenced, are held here.

The booking process will consist of fingerprinting and photographs, a background check and nationwide warrant search. Booking may take an hour or more, depending on how busy the  jail is at the time someone is brought in. A bail amount will be set according to the El Dorado County bail schedule for bailable offenses.

This Monroe Detention Center is the main jail for Yolo County.  The facility is the responsibility of the Sheriff’s Department Detention Division.  The Detention Center is rated a medium/maximum security facility, allowing to provide housing for inmates of all security classifications. Most Yolo County arrestees will be brought to this detention center for booking, they will be held until bail is posted or until their arraignment.

The Detention Division of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department has two detention facilities.  One is the North County Detention Facility (NCDF).  The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department is responsible for the processing, care and management of inmates housed in both of these facilities.  The Detention Division operates with a staff of over 300 employees.

This facility sits on 15.3 acres , 5.91 acres are used for the Agricultural Program.  Inmates are approved to participate in the work crews at the time of booking.   In order to participate they may not have violence charges, a history of escape, or any disciplinary behavior programs. Over 200 inmates are on working crews, doing a variety of work on and off site.  The facility staffs 51 Correctional Deputies, 4 sergeants, one lieutenant, one captain,  and 7 legal processors.
