Butte County Jail can now house approximately 570 inmates at one time. Currently, Butte County Jail employs approximately 135 Correctional Staff and civilian employees.

Butte County Jail, currently administered by Butte County Sheriff’s Department, houses approximately 570 inmates and employs 135 correctional staff.  This jail was opened in 1964 and has since under gone rennovations to accomodate the increasing inmate population. 

When arrested by Butte County Sheriff’s or the Butte County Police Department the detainee will be transported to Butte County Jail for booking.  Following the booking process he/she will be allowed to make a phone call.  Call us immediately as the release process is known to take quite a few hours.
