A few weeks ago, we bailed my sister out of the Van Nuys Jail. Her bail was set at $80,000 and we agreed to pay $8,000 to the bondsman in LA. The agreement was that we’d put $4,000 down and make monthly payments on the rest.  Last night she was arrested at our home by the US Marshals Service and we were told the case has been transferred to federal court.  Do we still need to keep paying the bondsman, since she’s back in jail for the same thing? She was only out for about 13 days.

Unfortunately, you’ll need to continue making payments on the initial bail bond until the balance is resolved. When the cosigner signed the bail bonds agreement form, they were taking responsibility for two things. One, that your sister would keep going to court until the case was over. Two, that they would continue to make payments until the bail bonds balance was zeroed out.  For more information on how bail bonds payment plans work call our office now at 888-224-5266.
