The Marin County Sheriff’s Department is responsible for overseeing the Marin County Jail and ensuring a safe and secure environment within the facility.  In 2006, over 8,000 inmates were booked at the county jail, housing an average of 318 inmates per day. The facility houses adult men and women.

When you call Marin County Jail, the jail staff will be able to confirm if the person you are looking for is currently in custody, who the arresting agency was, their bail amount, and their scheduled court date.

Visiting Information

VISITING:  Inmates are allowed one 30 minute visit per day.   A POD and LOCKDOWN will not be allowed visitation until 5:45 pm on weekdays only.

VISITING POLICY:  Inmates are responsible for scheduling their own visits 24 hours in advance and for providing the visitor with the correct date and time of the scheduled visit.  Anyone without a scheduled visit will not be allowed visitation.

9:00am, 9:40am, 10:20am, 1:00pm, 1:40pm, 2:20pm, 2:20pm, 5:45pm, 7:00pm, 7:40pm, 8:20pm, 9:00pm

Saturday – Sunday:
9:00am, 9:40am, 10:20am, 2:00pm, 2:40pm, 3:20pm, 5:45pm

Holidays:  (County Holidays)
9:00am, 9:40am, 10:20am, 2:00pm, 2:40pm, 3:20pm, 5:45pm, 7:00pm, 7:40pm, 8:20pm, 9:00pm

GENERAL INFORMATION:

  • All visitors must be 18 years or older unless accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.
  • All visitors must present one of the following forms of ID: Valid US Driver’s License, Valid Passport, Valid Consular/Matricular card, Valid Foreign Passport or valid US Military ID. (Minor visitors must bring a valid school ID.)
  • Only 3 people are allowed to visit at one time. Children over 1 year or a small child that walks on it’s own  is counted as a visitor.
  • Minors must be with an adult at all times during the visit. Failure to control children during the visit will result in a cancellation of the visit.
  • Food and drinks are not allowed in the visiting area.
  • All visitors must successfully pass through the metal detector to proceed to the visiting level.   If a visitor does not pass through the detector, the visit will be denied.
  • All visitors are subject to search.
  •  The only items allowed on the visiting level are 1 key, eyeglasses and emergency medication.  All other belongings must be secured before the visit.  Lockers are made available in the lobby for $ .25.
  • Any visitor under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances will not be allowed to visit.

**Failure to comply to any of these rules may result in the loss of visiting privileges.
