The Humboldt County Custody Service Bureau is responsible for administering the Humboldt County Jail. The bureau employs 131 full-time employees, 116 of which are Correctional Officers for the facility. Humboldt County Jail houses both pre-trial and sentenced inmates and is rated to hold up to 411 inmates.

Humboldt County Jail Visiting Hours

• All visitors must be 18 years of age unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, or showing proof of emancipation.
• Inmate visiting hours are determined by the housing location.
• All inmates are allowed at least two half-hour visiting sessions per week. (One visit per day)
• Visits may be lost due to disciplinary actions.
• Sessions begin on the hour and half hour.
• Visiting sessions will be first-come, first-serve.
• All visitors must fill out a Visitor Request Form available in the public lobby.
• Request Forms must be turned in to the receptionist up to 15 minutes prior to the desired visitation.
• All visitors must present a valid ID such as: Any state identification or driver’s license, Passport, Federal identification, Military identification card, as well as a current DMV printout requesting a Driver’s License or State Identification card.
• The following is prohibited: Cameras or recording devices, food, drink, smoking, hand signals and note writing, inappropriate and disruptive behavior, any persons under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, and provocative clothing.

Once the Request Form has been turned in along with a requested form of identification, the visiting floor, booth and elevator will be assigned for the scheduled visit. All visitors are to remain in the lobby area until guided to the elevators. A metal detector screening will be done prior to entering the elevators. Visitors will be asked to leave the visiting room at the end of the visiting session.
