The  John Latorraca Correctional Facility houses both sentenced and pre-sentenced inmates.  There are two facilities for Merced, the John Latorraca Correctional Facility and the Main Jail.  The Merced County Sheriff’s Department administers both jails and they also maintain the safety of inmates and staff.  The Merced County arrestees will be transported to one of these detention facilities for booking.  When booked in they will undergo a booking  process that consists of fingerprinting, photographs (mug shot), a background check and nationwide warrant search, this could take several hours to complete.

Visiting Rules

• A request form must be filled out by the inmate in order to receive a visit.
• All visitors must be cleared and placed on the imates visitor list before visiting.  (Inmates are allowed a two visitor max. on their list at one time.)
• At the time of the visit, all vistors must present a valid State/Government issued Drivers License or ID.
• All personal belongings should be left in vehicles.  The only items allowed in the facility are your keys and photo ID.
• Inmates are allowed 1 visit per day and a maximum of 2 vistors at once.  Each visit will last 30 minutes.
• Any children under the age of 12 will not be allowed.
• All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guradian.
• Anyone not visiting will not be permitted in the visiting lobby.
