Glendale Police Department on Community Policing
The Glendale Police Department has utilized the policing enforcement tactics provided by the COPPS Unit (Community Police Partnership.) Community policing is not only the responsibility of the unit, but the entire agency.
Community policing is a way for the people to be able to connect with the police force, in an easy accessible manner. This allows for the community to voice their concerns in an orderly fashion and be heard.
Basically, it is a way for both the law enforcement agencies to work hand-in-hand with everyone in the community in order to prevent and solve crimes.
Community policing also works by the community’s willingness to share and educate, as well as inform others and the law enforcement agencies.
If you live in Glendale, you can be a part of this by:
- Educating others about crime
- Prevent criminal activity
- Report any criminal activity or suspicious activity
The Glendale Police Department is separated into 5 distinct area commands. These are:
- North Command (Lt. Ian Grimes, Sgt. Mardkian, Sgt. Toledo, Sgt. Tweedy, CLO Joe Allen, & CLO Matt Zakarian.)
- West Command (Lt. Bruce Fox, Sgt. Flores, Sgt. Pasache, Sgt. Ruiz, Sgt. Topedzhikyan, CLO Kelly Annis, & CLO Josh Luna.)
- East Command (Lt. Todd Anderson, Sgt. Alpueto, Sgt. Garcia, Sgt. Hirano, Sgt. Wing, & CLO Sue Shine.)
- South Command (Lt. Brian Cohen, Sgt. Dizon, Sgt. Magtoto, Sgt. McErtarffer, Sgt. Newton, Sgt. Oswandel, Sgt. Rosas, CLO Aguila, & CLO Saloomen.)
- Downtown Command (Lt. Gary Montecuollo & Sgt. Tsuruta)
West Area Command is headed by Lieutenant Bruce Fox. Officer Kelly Annis, who has worked the West Command area for several years, will be retiring sometime this summer. Officer Josh Luna, will be welcomed to the West Command area as the new community lead officer.
The South Area Command is headed by Lieutenant Brian Cohen. This year, they are welcoming Community Lead Officer Tino Saloomen who will join forces with Lead Officer Blanca Aguila. The south area has a large vehicle burglary rate, so hopefully with these officers joining in; we will see a decrease of crime.
Lieutenant Todd Anderson is heading up the East Area Command. This is a new assignment for him as he will be taking the place of Lieutenant Gary Montecuollo, who has been transferred to the Downtown Area Command.
The North Area Command is headed by Lieutenant Ian Grimes, who has helped to secure a reduction in criminal activity in the area. Other officers who help in this area are Officer Matt Zakarian and Officer Joe Allen.
Mentioned briefly above, Lieutenant Gary Montecuollo is the new Downtown Area Command officer. The downtown area is a new command and makes the 5th area command.
