Kidnap Charge Leads to Riverside Bail Bondsman’s Arrest

October 24th, 2010

In an appauling story, a Riverside bail bondsman has been arrested for the alleged kidnap and ransom of one of his own clients.

Bail Bonds United of Riverside, posted a bond for a defendant in July, 2010. Upon the defendant’s release, he was unable to pay the total amount of the bail bond fee, or ”premium” as it is known. Co-owner of the bail bond company, Damion Paul Perkins was apperently dissatisfied and took matters to an extreme.

It is reported that Perkins and a male accomplice drove to his clients residence and ordered him to come out of his home at gunpoint. During the abduction, the victim was handcuffed and placed into the backseat of a car while Perkins and his accomplice negotiated for his release.

The victim was later released when he turned over cash and illegal drugs from the victim’s family.

Perkins was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on October 20th.

Perkins bail was set at $1 million dollars. (That’s a $100,000 “premium” or fee to get out of jail.) Perkins could receive the maximum sentence if convicted: life in prison with a possibility of parole.
