Burglary Suspect Attempts Escape From SCV Sheriff Station
Ryan Martinez, a 20-year-old man from Palmdale who was arrested on Monday for residential burglary charges, attempted a tricky and brash escape from the Santa Clarita Jail.
According to a sheriff’s reports, after being placed in a locked jail interview room, Martinez removed ceiling tiles and climbed into the overhead crawl space. He then replaced them to conceal himself. Guess he didn’t want to be identified by the victim who was on their way to possibly name him as a primary subject.
His attempt was foiled by deputies when they found a chalky white powder on the floor. They surrounded the building and he was recaptured after he was found running inside of the sheriff building.
Martinez is currently being held in lieu of $130,000 at the Inmate Reception Center in downtown Los Angeles. A far cry from a small jail in Santa Clarita, to the biggest jail in the world. Guess we could say, he worked his way up.
