Bail Bonds While Vacationing

June 20th, 2010

Have you ever thought about needing a bail bondsman while you are on vacation?  While summer is fast approaching and we’re thinking about family vacations, as a family of bondsmen we think about such things…

Most people never think they will ever end up in jail while vacationing, unfortunately it does happen.  It could be  too much fun in the sun, a heated argument, a little too much to drink, or a variety of other unexpected incidents.

If you travel in the US, information about the bail bonds process can help. However, traveling outside the US presents a completely different picture. Laws vary widely by country. It’s important to know how to reach the United States Consulate in the country you are visiting.  However, in most cases, the US Consulate will only be able to notify family if something were to happen, they really cannot do much more than that.

It is estimated that approximately 3,000 Americans are arrested abroad every year and most often for minor offenses, or what we in the US call minor offenses.  Those minor offenses can be major offenses in another country. It is very important that you know and understand their laws and abide by them, or you could possibly find yourself in a lot of trouble.
